The New Volkswagen Beetle
(2.0 litre)

Volkswagen Beetle

When I heard Volkswagen was going to reinvent the beetle I was a tiny bit surprised. There was a lot of hype and I didn't really pay any attention. But it's all true... this is a great follow-up of the old beetle. It was not originally called the "beetle", but this was its nickname and became formal and the beetle was born. It was originally called the "Volkswagen" (Peoples Car). Not really true anymore because it ranges around 19,000 new.

Its new design is great, the curves represent a "smile''. The lights reflect the soft curves on this car, which I think looks great. I think this car is more sporty than practical design-wise. This car runs like a golf, but is definitely a beetle.

Its not a massive car, but you generally would not be buying this car for space. You would be buying this car to own a car as original as you. The interior is fantastic. The steering wheel is great, and good-looking too with an aluminium finish to match that on the gearshift and handbrake. This is becoming a Volkswagen trademark!

It is Mexican-built and available only in a 2.0litre with a price-tag of 19,000. It comprises of a 115bhp engine that is moderate at around 0-62mph in 11sec. It is unusually equipped with a lot of extras like ABS, airbags and even ESP (electronic stability programme).

To be honest I didn't like it at first but I have now actually totally changed my mind. It is a "true" classic, never to be forgotten.
